  • ADVERTISING: Total of $2.8 billion spent by US companies on online marketing in 2000, with $14.6 billion expected by 2005. (Direct Marketing Association, Dec. 2000).
  • ADVERTISING:  Spending on advertising on the 1,000 leading web sites amounted to $1.2 billion in May 2000, up from $819 million in January.  (Adzone, July 2000).
  • ADVERTISING: 5,489 companies advertised online for the first time in Q3 2000, compared with 2,935 in Q1. Overall, the number of new companies advertising online has increased by 157% over the past 10 months. (AdRelevance, Nov. 2000).
  • ADVERTISING: Internet advertising will grow more than fourfold to $24.4 billion by 2004, surpassing both network and cable television as well as consumer magazines, and up from $1.9 billion in 1998 and $4.6 billion in 1999. (Veronis Suhler's annual report on the media industry, Aug. 2000).
  • ADVERTISING: Online ad sales jumped from $1.9 billion in 1999 to $2.9 billion in 2000, representing a 52.6% increase. (Competitive Media Reporting, Feb. 2001).
  • ADVERTISING: Revenues from online advertising are expected to reach $28 billion by 2005, up from $4.3 billion in 1999, with the market for 2000 estimated at $7 billion (Jupiter Communications, June 2000).
  • U.S. ONLINE ADVERTISING: The U.S. accounts for 75% of the spending ($5.4 billion this year), followed by Europe ($900 million) and Asia ($500 million). (Jupiter Communications, June 2000).
