WARFIGHTER INFORMATION
NETWORK TACTICAL (WIN-T) Cisco Systems
has been actively engaged in developing network solutions
to support the Army's WIN-T effort. Most recently, Cisco provided
network support in the area of product capabilities and engineering
expertise to industry partners in support of the initial WIN-T
Request for Proposal (RFP). Additionally, Cisco Systems played
a significant role in the modernization of the Army's Mobile
Subscriber Equipment (MSE) and Tri-Service Tactical Communications
(TRITAC) data networks, precursors to WIN-T program development.
It is anticipated that the experience gained with programs
such as MSE / TRITAC modernization and the Army's Secure Wireless
Local Area Network (SWLAN) will allow Cisco to be at the forefront
of networking the Army warfighter into the future.
Cisco is well suited to support the ever-increasing mobile
networking demands of the tactical warfighter through a wide
variety products and solution sets. We understand the need
for tailorable networks than can be quickly configured to
support weight and size requirements as the mission dictates.
Similarly, network solutions will provide the necessary scalability
to support Objective Force Warrior, through the high mobility
requirements of Unit of Action forces, to Theater Army Unit
of Employment organizations. It is anticipated that primary
support will be in the switching and routing areas; however,
wireless, content delivery, and particularly converged data,
voice, and video can be major network enablers in the WIN-T
program. Additionally, Cisco fully understands that miniaturization
of network components is absolutely critical in meeting integrated
and embedded system capabilities of the Objective Force, and
we are working to that end. During the Army transformation
to the Objective Force, Cisco products can significantly enhance
WIN-T interoperability with legacy, interim, and coalition
force networks, along with assuring seamless connectivity
with the Defense Information System Network (DISN) and the
Global Information Grid (GIG). The performance and reliability
of this gear is unmatched. Coupled with a road map of future
hardware and software refreshments, this gear will ensure
that the Army's networks stays abreast of technology advances.
In summary, Cisco Systems is very enthusiastic about having
the opportunity to pursue the WIN-T program and believes Cisco
products and engineering talent will play a significant role
in providing the Army with an unmatched warfighter network.
We look forward to the opportunity and challenge of supporting
the Army in the journey to the Objective Force.
