Enterprise Solutions
Today's large enterprises are geographically diverse and multinational. With increasing pressures to deliver products faster, improve margins, and reduce expenses, these companies are seeking new ways to minimize the constraints of cost and distance. To be successful, they must speed decisions by facilitating communication between disparate offices and sharing information among all their constituents.

Cisco offers a broad range of end-to-end networking solutions to make these enterprise customers more successful. Large organizations ranging from multinational banks to universities have implemented intranets that deliver immediate, up-to-date information and services to greatly increase productivity. Through networking, manufacturers can easily share product information over long distances, cutting months and even years off product development cycles. Health care institutions can transmit medical charts to speed diagnoses. And networked commerce applications provide customers with fast access to products and services around the clock.

FedEx Has Increased Express Package Deliveries

FedEx Jets The concept of networked commerce—connecting to its customers and automating key processes—is nothing new to FedEx. In the early 1980s, the company began linking its customers to networks that streamlined order pickup, delivery, shipping, and invoicing. Today, over 500,000 FedEx customers are on line with the help of a Cisco-based network.

At the beginning of 1997, FedEx launched FedEx VirtualOrderSM service, providing its customers with a turnkey virtual marketplace on the Internet. Businesses display a list of items for sale on a customized Web page. Orders placed from that Web page are processed and then delivered by FedEx. Proof of delivery and order tracking are easily accessed from the network. The new service enhances the productivity of FedEx customers, allowing them to have a global presence and increase the efficiency of their operations.
