Web Based Operational AssessmentIn all industries, companies are working towards increasing the availability of their network infrastructures and services. Operational practices and network management systems are critical success factors in achieving highly available networks. Cisco Systems has developed a web-based tool to help organizations understand key concepts of designing and maintaining highly available networks. The tool can also assist in identifying the potential gaps in processes or systems that might hinder the organization in achieving their goals. The assessment consists of thirteen sections that address some areas within the Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Perforance, Security (FCAPS) & Planning, Design, Implementation, Operation (PDIO) models of network operation.. This web assessment can help you determine whether critical areas have been considered by asking questions that relate to key network life cycle and management practices. For each question help is offered and, when available for a given area, pointers are provided to more information that pertain to industry best practices. Individuals taking the assessment should have an understanding of the organization's business, network operations and network management practices. The assessment should take about 30-60 minutes of your time. You can also complete the assessment in multiple sessions -- the tool will save previously answered questions. This is not a test or validation of your network practices. The information and report should be viewed as a tool to help your organization identify some of the key elements needed for a highly available network. |
