c. Functions to provide extra algorithm stability to "Hold Downs"
Split Horizon prevents two node routing loops where Poison
Reverse Updates remove routing loops in larger networks. They BOTH
utilize Hold Downs to prevent regular update messages from
inappropriately reinstating a route that has gone bad.
