Cisco Systems Inc. has discovered a problem with the Cisco 2520 and 2522 routers where the router can experience memory corruption when the high speed serial interfaces (Serial 0 and Serial 1) are under heavy load. This memory corruption leads to a reload of the router.
All Cisco 2520 and 2522 routers manufactured before May 1, 1996 are subject to this memory problem. Cisco will provide warranty replacement systems free of charge for these units. In order to identify whether a router is subject to this problem, you can use one of the following methods:

Issue the "show version" command. The hardware revision that is subject to the problem is "00000000". Hardware revision "00000001" contains the PROM which resolves this problem:
cisco 2520 (68030) processor (revision E) with 4096K/2048K bytes of memory.
Processor board ID 02351913, with hardware revision 00000001

Open the chassis and examine the motherboard revision number (near the DRAM SIMM socket). The problem versions and fixed versions are shown in Table 1.

If you purchased the Cisco 2520 or Cisco 2522 router from a reseller or distributor, contact the reseller or distributor who will arrange for the replacement hardware.
