Problem Description
Customers who upgrade to Prime Infrastructure Release 1.2.0 might experience issues with application usage, the login process, and partial upgrades. These issues result in downtime and slow recovery. Impacted customers are not able to migrate data from Network Control System (NCS) reliably.
Customers who install a new release of Prime Infrastructure Release 1.2.0 (that is, without NCS data migration) might see issues with backup and restore operations.
Background
These issues impact customers who:
- Upgrade or migrate data from NCS Release 1.0, 1.1, or 1.1MR to Prime Infrastructure Release 1.2.0.
- Perform backup and restore operations on Prime Infrastructure Release 1.2.0.
Problem Symptoms
Affected Operations
The affected operations include:
- Backup and restore
- Upgrade
The issues addressed are:
- Unavailable database indexes and constraint
- Terminal Access Controller Access Control System (TACACS) data integrity
- Unavailable archive logs
- System startup during the restore operation
- Locked database user account
- Documentation updates
Affected Function
The license function is affected.
The issues addressed are:
- Pop-up windows
- Evaluation license not disabled in the presence of a permanent license
Affected Area
High availability is affected.
The issue addressed is failback when the primary system is replaced.
Workaround/Solution
For customers who plan to upgrade to Prime Infrastructure Release 1.2.0, Cisco recommends not to migrate NCS data or perform the backup and restore operations until Prime Infrastructure Release 1.2.1 is available.
For customers who already have Prime Infrastructure Release 1.2.0 installed, Cisco recommends to apply the new Prime Infrastructure point patch when it is released to their current system.
Once Prime Infrastructure server is at Release 1.2.1, customers can begin NCS data migration and normal backup and restore operations.
If upgrade issues are encountered before Prime Infrastructure Release 1.2.1 is available, contact the Cisco Technical Assistace Center and open a service request.
Prime Infrastructure Release 1.2.1 will include three deliverables to address various customer scenarios:
- Point patches (NCS Release 1.0/1.1/1.1 MR1, Prime Infrastructure Release 1.2.0)
- Prime Infrastructure Release 1.2.1 upgrade image (application bundle)
- Prime Infrastructure Release 1.2.1 new image ISO and OVA
Prime Infrastructure Release 1.2.1 Availability
Prime Infrastructure Release 1.2.1 will be available early December 2012 on Cisco.com for download:
