Problem Description

The network element (NE) is impacted with either database loss or continuous controller card switchover and resets. This occurs when Multiservice Transport Platform (MSTP) is run with the software releases and line cards mentioned in the “Products Affected” section.

Background

A stale license record remains in the system database when one of the cards listed in this field notice is deleted while it is still plugged into the node. The database is periodically synchronized between controller cards automatically. When there is a controller card switchover, the database load operation is triggered. As part of this database load, the stale record leads to either database loss or continuous controller switchover and resets.

Problem Symptoms

There are no visible symptoms. If one of the impacted cards has been deleted as detailed in this field notice, perform the workaround provided below or contact the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) for validation of the NE.

Workaround/Solution

Workaround: In order to rectify the issue to the network element, upgrade to Release 9.4.0.3 or 9.6.0.3. This upgrade automatically cleans up the stale license entries from the database.

How To Identify Hardware Levels

All cards listed in the "Products Affected" section in this field notice are affected.
