Revision Date Comment 2.1 24-OCT-2012 Updated Issue 1 in Problem Description. 2.0 25-SEP-2012 Added information regarding issue on XFP ONS-XC-10G-xx.y=. 1.0 01-MAR-2012 Initial Public Release
Products Affected Top Assembly Part # Rev. 15454-10G-XR= 800-26471-01 A0 15454E-10G-XR 800-26471-01 A0
Issue 1: Revision increment (the last two digits of the part number) of XFP ONS-XC-10G-C is not identified by the OC192XFP, which results in an inoperable card. This problem occurs in all software releases prior to R9.2.1.
Issue 2: Revision increment (the last two digits of the part number) of XFP ONS-XC-10G-xx.y= causes it to be wrongly identified as LR2 reach XFP in software releases prior to 9.2.1. This XFP being provisioned in pre-9.2.1 release and then if upgraded to any release to 9.2.1/later, XFP PROV-MISMATCH alarm will be generated.
Several wavelengths of XFP have undergone a revision update causing the ONS-XC-10G-C software prior to 9.2.1 unable to recognize these XFP units.
Because of the revision update of the ONS-XC-10G-xx.y= XFP, software wrongly provisions the reach as LR2 in pre-9.2.1 software due to a bug. When upgrading software to 9.2.1 or higher where the XFP was wrongly reach provisioned, an XFP PROV-MISMATCH alarm will be generated.
On insertion of the ONS-XC-10G-C XFP in oc192XFP card, the Missing Equipment Attributes (MEA - PPM) alarm is raised on XFP in software releases prior to 9.2.1, and traffic will not flow. XFP other than revision 01 are not recognized on these OC192CFP-CARDs in pre 9.2.1 releases, and XFP will not function.
On insertion of ONS-XC-10G-xx.y=, in oc192XFP card, reach is wrongly and automatically provisioned as LR2 in pre-9.2.1 software. Traffic will flow properly. When upgraded to 9.2.1 or later, this wrong reach is identified and raises the PROV-MISMATCH alarm.
There is no workaround identified for this issue for releases prior to R9.2.1. Cisco recommends customers affected by this issue upgrade to one of the releases supporting the fix to FR CSCtj06273. This issue is fixed in MSPP releases 9.2.1 and above.
For the issue related to ONS-XC-10G-xx.y=, change the reach of the XFP ONS-XC-10G-xx.y= in card pane of OC192XFP from LR2 to DWDM after the upgrade. This will clear the PROV-MISMATCH alarm.
