Problem Description
The defect may cause the camera to stop responding to its PTZ controller.
Background
For the converter to fail, it must be set up in the RS485 mode (not RS422) and connected to a chain of dome cameras.
Problem Symptoms
The camera may stop responding to its PTZ controller.
Workaround/Solution
Replace the affected hardware.
As of approximately June 13, 2008, new products that were manufactured under Engineering Change Order (ECO) E093081 are guaranteed to be free of this problem. Refer to How to Identify Hardware Levels below for instructions on how to view the version of in-service product.
Product shipped from Service Logistics may still exhibit this problem. To ensure an RMA replacement is not affected by this problem, request an RMA coded as shown below:

How To Identify Hardware Levels
Affected versions can be identified by checking the TAN label at the front of the external Serial Converter chassis.
Affected versions have a TAN label as follows:
68-XXXX-01 (version -01).
Items with TAN label as 68-XXXX-02 (version -02) are free of this defect.
Physical Replacement of Parts
Replace the affected hardware.
As of approximately June 13, 2008, new products that were manufactured under Engineering Change Order (ECO) E093081 are guaranteed to be free of this problem. Refer to How to Identify Hardware Levels for instructions on how to view the version of in-service product.
