UBR10K - UBR10-PRE= |
Problem Description
A uBR10K running 12.3(13a)BCx might lose partial configuration after a PRE failover. Primarily, the Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) commands have been found to disappear after a PRE switchover. Moreover, these commands are not recognized or accepted when running on the secondary PRE.
Background
AAA commands have been found to disappear after a PRE switchover when a Cisco uBR10K CMTS upgrades from 12.3(9a)BCx to 12.3(13a)BCx or higher images (for instance, to 12.3(17x)BCx).
Problem Symptoms
If you manually enter the lost AAA commands after PRE failover, the following will result:
aaa authentication enable default group tacacs+ enable ^ % Invalid input detected at '^' marker. aaa authorization exec default local group tacacs+ none ^ % Invalid input detected at '^' marker.
Issuing a ? command at the config prompt does not show the missing commands as listed options.
Workaround/Solution
In order to proactively avoid running into this AAA config lost problem after PRE failover while running IOS version 12.3(13a)BCx, issue a wr mem on the active PRE and reload the Standby PRE beforehand, right after upgrading from 12.3(9a)BCx to 12.3(13a)BCx:
UBR10K# write mem UBR10K# hw-module sec-cpu reset
