Problem Description

The 15310 -CTX-2500-K9(=) boards listed above that have revision -B0 have the potential of shorting with a PC board trace via and developing an electrical problem.

Background

Any 15310-CTX-2500-K9(=) with a -B0 revision and built with the vendor part number 1489669-1 is potentially affected by this issue. Use the serial number validation tool below in the How to Identify Hardware Levels section to confirm a unit's exposure to this issue.

This is due to a PC board trace via layout location being in proximity with a tab on specific SFP cages (Vendor P/N 1489669-1, under Cisco P/N 51-2859-01 ) which may lead to a potential electrical shorting problem. Under certain circumstances the SFP cage could eventually wear through the solder mask and make contact with a trace via on the board.

Cards having revision of -C0 or greater are not affected as these revisions have been built with Cisco P/N 51-4518-01. This is the exact same part as P/N 51-2859-01, but excludes vendor P/N 1489669-1.

Problem Symptoms

If a short occurs, traffic and SFP provisioning is affected.

Workaround/Solution

There is no workaround. A board with revision -B0 and a serial number confirmed with the serial number validation tool in the How to Identify Hardware Levels section should be returned for replacement using the following replacement request form.

How To Identify Hardware Levels

Only units with serial numbers confirmed by the tool below are affected. If your serial number is not confirmed by the tool below, it is not subject to this issue.
