Problem Description
When a customer tries to boot a WAE-511-K9, WAE-512-K9, WAE-611-K9, WAE-612-K9 or WAE-7326-K9 RMA spare replacement chassis for the first time, it will not boot with a running application.
Background
The WAE-511-K9, WAE-512-K9, WAE-611-K9, WAE-612-K9 or WAE-7326-K9 RMA spare replacement chassis support multiple applications (ACNS and WAFS) and therefore come from our OEM with only a Linux kernel, and by design should be booted from a CD Rom for the first time.
Each application, ACNS and WAFS, will have a version specific Software Rescue CD or .ISO image available immediately for download from Cisco.com, or obtainable via next business day from E-library. The bootable CD is required when booting an RMA chassis for the first time.
Problem Symptoms
When first booting a replaced WAE-511-K9, WAE-512-K9, WAE-611-K9, WAE-612-K9 or WAE-7326-K9 received from a Cisco service depot, the chassis will not boot to a running application.
Workaround/Solution
When placing an RMA order for a WAE-511-K9, WAE-512-K9, WAE-611-K9, WAE-612-K9 or WAE-7326-K9, a Rescue CD is required to boot these devices and should be obtained at the time.
Note: To create a bootable CD, using CD burning software that supports .ISO images, such as Ahead's Nero Burning ROM, and a CD burner, open the .ISO file and burn the file to a CD. For example, with Ahead Nero 6.6.0.1, use the File -> Open command, choose the .ISO file, and then choose Burn in the dialog box that opens.
Rescue CD's are obtainable in the following way:
-
To obtain the image immediately, download the correct rescue CD ROM image from CCO:
