GSS - GSS-4490-K9

GSS - GSS-4491-K9
Note: Only GSSs running 1.2(2.0.2) are affected.
Problem Description
DNS query processing in the the Global Site Selector (GSS) Maintentance Software Version 1.2(2.0.2) is case sensitive and therefore does not respond to all of the requests that it should for a configured domain.
Background
A fix for a defect CSCec67129 (registered customers only) for regular expressions caused the GSS domain list to become case sensitive for all DNS queries in version 1.2(2.0.2). This version has been removed from Cisco.com and is being replaced with 1.2(2.0.3).
Problem Symptoms
If 1.2(2.0.2) is deployed, the configuration is case sensitive which will cause domain misses for domains that should be included. For instance, if www.cisco.com is configured but the request comes in with WWW.CISCO.COM, it will not match.
Workaround/Solution
GSS Software Version 1.2(2.0.2) was only posted on Cisco.com from April 15, 2005 to April 24, 2005.
Cisco recommends that GSS Version 1.2(2.0.2) not be used. The software has been removed from Cisco.com and the replacement software image gss-1.2.2.0.3-k9.upg (registered customers only) has been added to the Software Center.
The show version command will only display 1.2.2, in order to determine if your system is running the version of software with the defect, you will need to issue the following command: gss.example.com#sho version verbose | grep "Version" .
Version 1.2(2) Full Version: 1.2(2.0.2)
If "Full Version: 1.2(2.0.2)" is displayed, then the GSS should be upgraded.
