Problem Description
If a an OSC (Optical Service Channel) interface is configured for LSC (Laser Safety Control) while the trunk is down, the OSC will not come into service.
Background
This issue was discovered at a customer site and has been corrected in an update to the Functional Image.
Problem Symptoms
If a an OSC interface is configured for LSC while the OSC link is down, the OSC will not come into service.
This issue does not occur if LSC is configured while the OSC link is Up.
Workaround/Solution
This issue has been resolved through an update to the Functional Image of the 15540-MMMB-xxxx and 15530-OSC. Customers can download the appropriate Functional Images Version from the Software Center on Cisco.com .
To update a line card functional image from a Flash memory device to a hardware controller, use the following command in privileged EXEC mode from a console session:
reprogram device:filename slot subslot
The updated Functional Images can be downloaded from the Software Center on Cisco.com from the ONS 15540 FPGA Software link.
The download process must be performed via local console access or local console access through a terminal server. The download process impacts traffic through the line card, so make certain to schedule a maintenance window to avoid unnecessary interruptions to customer traffic. Do not interrupt the download process. Wait for the process to complete before attempting any commands on the switch.
For additional information on Updating Line Card functional images consult "Managing Your Cisco 155xx System" located in the product Configuration Guide and Command Reference.
