Problem Description
During the manufacturing process the affected LED was reversed causing it to be red when it should be green.
Background
This problem was caused by a manufacturing process error which has been corrected.
Problem Symptoms
When the NM-1/2V is initialized and comes online and communicates with the router the enable LED will be red instead of green.
There are no functional issues with the product, only visual issues.

Workaround/Solution
Replace the affected hardware.
As of approximately August 15, 2003 new products that were manufactured under a certain Engineering Change Order are guaranteed to be free of this problem. Refer to below for instructions on how to view the version of in-service product. Product shipped from Service Logistics may still exhibit this problem. Coding return materials authorizations (RMAs) as shown below guarantees a replacement which is not affected by this problem:
Service Level: Mfg New - 3rd Bus Day NON BILLABLE
Failure Class: Administrative Request
Failure Code: Field Notice Alert
How To Identify Hardware Levels
Product having a top assembly number ending in -04, for example 800-02491-04 or 800-02489-04 and have a serial number in the affected range shown below are affected by the problem described in this field notice.
Product having a top assembly number ending in -05 or later, -03 or ealier or having a serial number outside the range shown below are not affected by this problem.
To view the serial number on-line use the show diagnostic command. In the example shown below, the top assembly number, which is shown as part number in this screen is within the affected range but the serial number is not within the affected range, refer to above. This particular NM-2V is not affected by the problem described in this field notice.
