Problem Description
CSS 11503 and CSS 11506 units shipped between August 6, 2002, and September 3, 2002, were shipped with 5.19 build 100. Software version 5.19 build 100 is beta code and it should have been removed before shipping.
Problem Symptoms
Execute the version command from the command line interface of any of the CSS units to determine which version of software is running on them. An upgrade is necessary if 5.19 build 100 is running on any CSS.
Workaround/Solution
There are two solutions for this issue, both of which require a software change.
Moving to 5.10 Software
The solution in 5.10 software requires that the operational flash be refreshed to the 5.10 level. The following commands must be executed from debug mode to refresh the operational flash. You can get into debug mode by hitting ESC-X.
For CSS11503:
xmask sysflash set misc 1 1 0x2 xmask sysflash set misc 2 1 0x2 xmask sysflash set misc 3 1 0x2
For CSS11506:
xmask sysflash set misc 1 1 0x2 xmask sysflash set misc 2 1 0x2 xmask sysflash set misc 3 1 0x2 xmask sysflash set misc 4 1 0x2 xmask sysflash set misc 5 1 0x2 xmask sysflash set misc 6 1 0x2
Then follow the upgrade procedure seen at Upgrading Your CSS Software.
Upgrading to 5.20 Software
No commands need to be executed before the upgrade to 5.20 software. The operational flash will be upgraded automatically since 5.20 software is more recent than 5.19 software.
Follow the upgrade procedure seen at Upgrading Your CSS Software. The 5.20 software will be available on October 1, 2002.
