Problem Description

WS-X6380-NAM Network Analysis Modules (NAMs) for Cisco Catalyst 6000 orders placed in or before February 2002 with an expected ship date of approximately February 15, 2002, or later will have their application image remapped.

The following images have been remapped.

Background

The WS-X6380-NAM application images have been remapped due to the the advisory entitled Cisco Security Advisory: Malformed SNMP Message-Handling Vulnerabilities.

Problem Symptoms

Customers who ordered the WS-X6380-NAM will receive an application image version that is higher than what was ordered.

Workaround/Solution

Cisco recommends that customers with Catalyst 6000 NAM application images 1.1(1a), 1.2(1), or 2.1(1a) upgrade to 1.2(3) or 2.1(2), due to the advisory entitled Cisco Security Advisory: Malformed SNMP Message-Handling Vulnerabilities.

The newer application images 1.2(3) and 2.1(2) can be obtained at the Software Center (registered customers only) .

Older application images 1.1(1a), 1.2(1), and 2.1(1a) will no longer be available on Cisco.com. The Catalyst 6000 Network Analysis Module Software Image 1.1(1) is no longer orderable (part number SC6K-NAM-1.1.1=).
