CSS 11000 |
Any CSS 11000 running WebNS Version 5.02.003 |
Problem Description
The configuration synchronization functionality in WebNS Version 5.02.003 is not compatible with any other version of WebNS. If you use version 5.02.003, you can only use config-sync with a peer running version 5.02.003.
Background
Software changes were made in WebNS Version 5.02.003 that caused the configuration synchronization not to work with other versions.
Problem Symptoms
A commit from version 5.02.003 to any other 5.0/5.01 version will simply time out waiting for the application session to go down. The commit fails, but no harm is done to either Cisco Content Service Switch (CSS).
In the reverse direction, however, several undesirable things can happen.
-
The remote CSS has ip redundancy master set when it should not be.
-
The remote CSS gets acl enable set when it should not be.
-
Only a partial commit is successfull. A full commit fails.
-
Sometimes the application session gets stuck in INIT.
Workaround/Solution
If you are using Config-synch, and WebNS Version 5.02.003, then the redundant peer must also be running WebNS Version 5.02.003. The software fix is in version 5.02.004s, which will still not be compatible with 5.02.003, but will be compatible with all other WebNS 5.0 versions.
