CISCO827-4VProblem Description
The Cisco 827-4V-asynchronous digital subscriber line (ADSL) Routers were shipped with 16MB of RAM. The default is 24MB of RAM.
Background
The problem was discovered when the new image Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.1.(3)XG with IP Security (IPSec) features was released.
Problem Symptoms
The router will not load IPSec images.
Workaround/Solution
Use the following procedure if the router was purchased before September of 2000 and the serial number represents a week value of less than 37.
For example:
JAB0437[XXXX]
JAB=Manufacturing supplier.
04=Year 2000.
37=Week Value.
XXXX=Serial number.
Verify the amount of RAM in the Cisco 827-4V by observing the boot sequence or by using the show version command. If the router contains 16MB default, submit an RMA for the additional RAM.
