BPX 8600 |
After a 9.1 to 9.2 upgrade only. |
Problem Description
After a 9.1 to 9.2.20 switch software upgrade some of the nodal connection resources are allocated to both User Permanent Virtual Circuits (PVCs) and Control Card PVCs, which results in User traffic to be adversely affected. Networking connections are used for internal, inter-node communications are not affected.
Background
This problem is manifested only when the last port of a BXM card is an active routing trunk after a 9.1 to 9.2.20 software upgrade.
Problem Symptoms
Some connections that are shown by the dspcons command cannot be displayed by the dspcon command, nor can they be deleted with the delcon command or modified with cnfcon command. User traffic may be affected if trunks are downed and more connections are added.
Workaround/Solution
Workaround:
Simple work around: Cause full rebuild on affected node.
Workaround not requiring rebuild:
This problem only occurs when the last port of a BXM trunk is a routing trunk. The memory of the port lccb of this trunk needs to be patched to remove the dual allocation of some connection. The patch procedure is described in the attached bug CSCdp05584 and should only be applied by experienced engineers.
Solution:
A post-9.2.20 release of software, 9.2.21 and later, will resolve this upgrade bug. Monitor the below bug (CSCdp05584) through the Bug Navigator II "Bug Watch" Feature to recieve e-mails on the progress and resolution of this bug.
