Problem Description |
Cisco has developed a redesigned cable management system for the Cisco 6400 Universal Access Concentrator (UAC). The new cable management system is implemented in manufacturing (MFG) and will ship with each chassis beginning on September 24, 1999. All chassis shipped prior to this date have a cable management system that could require card removal and/or system downtime in the event that a blower module replacement is required. The new Cable Management Kit is being offered to customers with a chassis that was deployed between December 1, 1998, and September 24, 1999. This kit will be offered at no cost through January 31, 2000.
Problem Symptoms |
There are no problem symptoms. This is a unified cable management solution for customers who have received a Cisco 6400 chassis prior to September 24, 1999. There is no failure associated with this action.
Background |
Some customers were cabling their systems in a way that would require disconnecting cables in order to service the PEMs or other cards. Cisco took a proactive stand in modifying the cable management system on this chassis with unified instruction on how to run cables to this chassis. The Cable Management Kit, offered to customers with a chassis deployed prior to September 24, 1999, provides a non-intrusive cable management solution.
Workaround/Solution |
Customers with a chassis that was ordered between December 1, 1998, and September 24, 1999, are encouraged to respond to this notice before January 31, 2000, to receive the Cable Management Kit at no cost. Requests for this kit after January 31, 2000, will be filled at a minimal cost to the customer.
