To address challenges associated with today's mission critical enterprise application deployments, Cisco, in collaboration with Oracle, offers Cisco Application Networking for Siebel 8.0, an enterprise network architecture with best practices and implementation guidance that optimizes application availability, performance, and security and lowers application ownership costs.

Featuring the Cisco Application Control Engine (ACE) and Wide Area Application Services (WAAS) product families, collectively known as Cisco Application Networking Services (ANS), that provide data center, branch, and remote end user application optimization services, this Joint Solution of Cisco application networking with Siebel 8.0 (Joint Solution) addresses the following challenges for Siebel deployments:

  • Recovery time and point objectives for business continuity
  • End user performance over limited Wide Area Network (WAN) connections
  • Application, server, network, and service-oriented application architectures (SOA) security
  • Reduced capital and operational costs

Cisco and Oracle cooperated in all phases of the Cisco Application Networking for Siebel 8.0 testing, including lab set-up at Cisco offices, solution functional and performance testing, and this deployment guide. Cisco and Oracle jointly validate that the lab setup and Joint Solution testing represents best efforts in creating a realistic customer deployment and accurate documentation of such deployment.

The purpose of this document is to describe the Joint Solution enterprise network architecture and deployment best practices and guidance.
