This article is one in a series to assist in the setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Cisco Small Business products (formerly Linksys Business Series).

Q. How to set email alerts in the WVC210?

A.

The Mail and FTP screen allows you to alter the Camera's e-mail configuration.

Primary and Secondary SMTP Mail Server. Enter the IP address of the outgoing mail SMTP servers. If it requires authentication, click the checkbox, and enter the account name and password in the Account Name and Password fields.

Send to. In each field, enter an e-mail address that will receive e-mail alerts. (You can enter up to three e-mail addresses.)

Show "From" as - Enter the text that you want displayed in the From field of any e-mail alert message.

Subject - Enter the subject heading that you want to be used.

To save your changes, click the Apply button. To cancel any unsaved changes, click the Cancel button. To get additional information about the screen's features, click the Help button.

The Motion Detection screen enables the Email alerts when motion is detected in the camera.?

You can choose to be notified when the Camera detects motion in its field of view. You will be sent a text-only email or an e-mail with video attached.

Enable E-mail Alert - If you want to be notified by e-mail when the Camera detects motion, then select Enable from the drop-down menu. Otherwise, select Disable.

Note: Motion detection can be triggered by rapid changes in lighting condition, as well as by moving objects. For this reason, it should only be used indoors.

To save your changes, click the Apply button. To cancel any unsaved changes, click the Cancel button. To get additional information about the screen's features, click the Help button.
