Introduction

This article is one in a series to assist in the setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Cisco Small Business products.

Q. How do you set up WVC210 with a Linksys Wireless router?

A. Complete these steps:

  1. Connect the Linksys Wireless Camera directly to the router.

  2. Check the camera LCD for the IP address.

  3. Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer.
  4. Go to the Address bar and enter your camera's IP address (for example, 192.168.1.103). Then, press Enter.

  5. Click the Setup tab. You will need to enter the User name and Password. By default it should be admin for both parameters. Under the Setup tab you can also configure the wireless settings for your camera.

    Note: Make sure to match the camera's wireless settings to your Linksys Router.

  6. Type the router's IP on your browser.
      Accessing the Router's Web-based Setup page
    1. Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer.
    2. Go to the Address bar and enter your router's IP address (192.168.1.1 is the default IP address of most Linksys routers). Then, press Enter.

  7. When the router's web-based setup page appears, click Wireless.

  8. Look for Wireless Network Name (SSID). If it is still set to "linksys", change it to something unique. Also, take note if Wireless SSID Broadcast is set to Enable.

  9. Unhook the Ethernet cable between the router and the camera, and power cycle the camera.

  10. The Wireless LED Light should appear in the camera indicating that it is communicating with your wireless router. If not, go to step 5 and check if you entered the correct wireless settings. Check for possible wireless interference such as wireless phones, etc.
