Q. How is motion detection set up?

A. The device supports Motion detection with event notifications to an email account or alarm log in the monitoring software. Motion detection cannot be configured using Firefox browser. Internet Explorer must be used to configure the motion detection. Motion detection can be triggered by rapid changes in lighting conditions, as well as by moving objects. For this reason, it should only be used indoors.

  1. Access the setup page for PVC2300, for example http://192.168.1.102:1024. The port number must be specified in the URL when accessing the Camera's web-based utility via the LAN. For example, if the Camera's IP address is 192.168.1.102 and the port is defined as 1024, you would specify this address: http:// 192.168.1.102:1024.

  2. When you first select the Motion Detection option, you are prompted to install an ActiveX plug-in. It is necessary to install this plug-in to use this feature.

    • Sensitivity—Use this to adjust the motion sensitivity.

Setting custom Area—Enable this option to capture the motion within defined areas of the video screen. Multiple windows with varied threshold settings can be used.
