Cisco Catalyst 4900 Series Switches are designed as access layer switches for rack-optimized server environments. The entire series is designed for high availability, wire speed, low-latency switching performance.

The newest member of the series, the Catalyst 4900M Switch, offers a unique semimodular form factor that allows a granular, cost-effective migration path from Gigabit Ethernet to 10 Gigabit Ethernet.
