The new enhanced Catalyst 6500 16-port GBIC-based Gigabit Ethernet Module provides a cost-effective and flexible approach to deploying gigabit Ethernet in the backbone of the network as well as server-farms. Supporting the GBIC form factor that can be used with Fiber or Copper installations, this module also offers higher density coarse wave division multiplexing (CWDM) and ZX-based GBIC deployments when used in the Catalyst 6500 multilayer switch series or Cisco 7600 Internet Router Series.

Supports (SX, LX/LH, and ZX), CWDM or Category 5 RJ-45 copper GBIC interfaces
Backplane Connections: 256Gbps Switch fabric (CEF256), and 32Gpbs “Classic” Bus
Queues per Port: 3 transmit, 2 receive
Optional upgrade to distributed Cisco Express Forwarding (dCEF256) using the DFC/DFC3
