Introduction
When the Cisco Content Transformation Engine (CTE) is upgraded from Release 2.5 to 2.7, you must install a license. This document describes that procedure.
Prerequisites
Requirements
Readers of this document should have knowledge of the CTE.
Components Used
The information in this document is based on CTE Release 2.5 and the upgrade to 2.7
The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.

Problem
When the CTE is upgraded from Release 2.5 to 2.7, you must install a license. Release 2.5 did not have licensing enabled.
Problem Symptoms
If a valid license is not available for a particular device, then a device user who attempts to proxy web content through the CTE receives this message:
Please check with your administrator to verify that the CTE has licenses for your device.
In addition, the CTE log file displays this messages:
httpd: session denied. check for sufficient capacity and device type licenses.
httpd: HTTP 403 (Please check with your administrator to verify that
the CTE has licenses for your device.)
Solution
To obtain and upload an upgraded license, perform these steps:
-
Send an e-mail to licensing@cisco.com with this information:
Company Name Customer Contact Contact E-mail Address Original Service Order (SO) Number MAC Address Modules Purchased
-
On the administrative PC where the CTE Administration Tool runs, create a C:\CTELicense directory (unless one already exists).
-
Copy the license file (.lic) that you receive through e-mail to the C:\CTELicense directory.
Caution: Do not overwrite any .lic files in the license directory. If
other files exist in that directory with the same name, the newly received file
must be renamed before you install it. The CTE software calculates licensed
features based on all .lic files in the license directory.
Caution: Do not edit a .lic file or the CTE software ignores features that
are associated with that license file. The contents of the file are encrypted
and must remain intact. If the license file is accidentally copied, renamed, or
inserted multiple times, only the original file will be used. The duplicate
files will be ignored. -
Open the CTE Administration Tool and upload the license, as described in the Uploads section of the Cisco CTE 1400 Series Configuration Note.
