Secondary Boot Setup
Task
In this section, you are presented with the information to configure the features described in this document.
You will need to format the disk for it to be recognized.

Step-by-Step Instructions
The steps listed below are involved in this task.
-
Set the disk in slot two to work as a back up if the operating system in slot 0 fails.
11503# map secondary-boot 1 ? <cr> Execute command 11503# show map MSD Mapping Primary-Boot: Slot 0 (mapped) Secondary-Boot: Slot 1 (mapped) Log: Slot 0 (unmapped) Core: Slot 0 (unmapped)
-
Copy a WebNS image into slot 1.
11503# copy 0 boot-image ? sg0720104 sg0710102 11503# copy 0 boot-image sg0720104 Copying(/) /sgo720104/ ....
-
Setup the secondary boot information.
11503# conf t 11503(config)# boot 11503(config-boot)# secondary boot-file sg0720104 11503(config-boot)# secondary boot-type boot-via-disk
A second method to setup the secondary boot information is also available. Reboot the box and enter Offline DM. Set the Offline DM's secondary boot to boot from disk, as shown below.
CSS5-SCM-2GE Offline Diagnostic Monitor menu (OffDM) Version: 7.20 Build 4 B O O T C O N F I G U R A T I O N M E N U Enter a menu number: 1. Set Primary Boot Configuration 2. Set Secondary Boot Configuration 3. Set IP Address, and Subnet Mask r. Return to previous menuChoose option 2 (this will list the available operating systems on disk 2 (slot 1)).
Configuring SECONDARY Boot Record Boot via [N]etwork, [F]TP, [D]isk, or [C]lear: [D] sg0710102 Enter the boot image filename [sg0710102]:
Verify
The best way to verify if this works is to pull the disk out of the CSS that the CSS is set to primary boot from. Reboot the CSS. The CSS should boot from the secondary disk.
Troubleshoot
