Step-by-Step Procedure
Note: You will lose your configuration after you perform this password recovery. You cannot keep your configuration when you recover a lost administrative password.
-
Console to the SCA device.
-
Type the word FailSafe when you see a password prompt (regardless of whether at the initial login or after the enable command). This password is case-sensitive.
-
Type yes when you see the message, "Do you wish to Erase the startup-configuration of this device and reboot?"
-
Press ENTER.
The Cisco CSS 11000 SCA reboots (reload) with factory default settings.
Example of a Password Recovery Procedure
This is an example where you need to reset the enable password.
