    Introduction

This document describes the password recovery procedure for the Cisco CSS 11000 Secure Content Accelerator (SCA).

    Prerequisites

    Requirements

There are no specific requirements for this document.

    Conventions

Refer to Cisco Technical Tips Conventions for more information on document conventions.

    Step-by-Step Procedure

Note: You will lose your configuration after you perform this password recovery. You cannot keep your configuration when you recover a lost administrative password.

    1. Console to the SCA device.

    2. Type the word FailSafe when you see a password prompt (regardless of whether at the initial login or after the enable command). This password is case-sensitive.

    3. Type yes when you see the message, "Do you wish to Erase the startup-configuration of this device and reboot?"

    4. Press ENTER.

The Cisco CSS 11000 SCA reboots (reload) with factory default settings.

Example of a Password Recovery Procedure

This is an example where you need to reset the enable password.
