Cisco IP NGN-DWDM Innovations for Optimized Ethernet Service Delivery
Operationalize, Packetize, and Deliver the Experience
Optimize fiber capacity, simplify wavelength management, and enable sub-wavelength Ethernet aggregation with dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) XPonder.
Faced with dramatic increases in IP traffic fueled by video and Ethernet services, providers are moving from ring- to mesh-based transport architectures in order to enhance fiber utilization.
Building on the ONS 15454 Multiservice Transport Platform (MSTP) and worldwide leadership in dense wave division multiplexing (DWDM) solutions, Cisco has enhanced its optical portfolio with mesh reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexers (ROADMs), extending the same operational benefits of its two-degree solutions to two through eight-degree architectures.
Cisco’s XPonder technology offers Ethernet-enabled DWDM services on the ONS 15454 and the ability to provide point-to-point and multipoint solutions over a single lambda or DWDM.
Cisco has enhanced its Ethernet over SONET/SDH (EoS) offering on the ONS 15454 Multiservice Provisioning Platform with new multirate Carrier Ethernet (CE-MR-10) and Multilayer (ML-MR-10) service blades that allow up to 10 Gb of 10/100/1000 Mbps of Ethernet services over SONET/SDH.
