END-OF-LIFE NOTICE, NO. 630
The Internet Service Provider BU, formerly Core BU, recently announced the availability of the enhanced four-port serial port adapter, the PA-4T+. The PA-4T+ Port Adapter supports flexible configuration options currently available with today's PA-4T-support for T1 (1.544 Mbps) to E2 (8 Mbps) data rates-but also provides future enhancements that will not be supported on the PA-4T (e.g., Bisync and Encryption). The PA-4T+ list price was also price-reduced lower than the PA-4T.
Since the PA-4T+ has comparable performance to the PA-4T product, the announcement included an End-of-Sale announcement for the PA-4T to begin September 30, 1997. However, due to severe component shortages, the End-of-Sale has been accelerated to July 25, 1997.
Today, the PA-4T+ is orderable and shipping. Orders for PA-4T port adapters should be converted to PA-4T+ port adapters. The PA-4T+ Port Adapter is supported on both Cisco® IOS® Software 11.1.8CA-release (and above), and IOS 11.2.5P-release (and above). The PA-4T+ is also available on both the 7200 Series and 7500 Series routers, requiring a single slot in a Cisco 7200 Series Router, and one of the two available adapter slots on a Versatile Interface Processor (VIP2).
