EOS/EOL Announcement for the Cisco WebNS Software 7.30 [Cisco CSS 11500 Series Content Services Switches]

PRODUCT BULLETIN NO. 2761

Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco® WebNS Software 7.30 for the Cisco CSS 11500 Series Content Services Switch. The last day to order the Cisco WebNS Software 7.30 is August 2, 2005. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until August 2, 2010. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco WebNS Software 7.30. Table 2 lists the product numbers affected by this announcement.

Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco WebNS Software 7.40, which offers additional features and bug fixes.

Table 3 provides relevant information for migrating from the Cisco WebNS Software 7.30 to the Cisco WebNS Software 7.40.

End-of-life announcement date	The date the document that announces the end of sale and end of life of a product is distributed to the general public.	February 2, 2005
End-of-sale date	The last date to order the product through Cisco point-of-sale mechanisms. The product is no longer for sale after this date.	August 2, 2005
Last shipment date	The last-possible ship date that can be requested of Cisco and/or its contract manufacturers. Actual ship date is dependent on lead-time.	November 2, 2005
End of software maintenance releases date	The last date that Cisco Engineering may release any final software maintenance releases or bug fixes. After this date, Cisco Engineering will no longer develop, repair, maintain, or test the product software.	August 2, 2006
End of new service attachment date	For equipment and software that is not covered by a service-and-support contract, this is the last date to order a new service-and-support contract or add the equipment and/or software to an existing service-and-support contract.	August 2, 2006
End of service contract renewal date	The last date to extend or renew a service contract for the product. The extension or renewal period cannot extend beyond the last date of support.	May 2, 2010
Last date of support	The last date to receive service and support for the product. After this date, all support services for the product are unavailable, and the product becomes obsolete.	August 2, 2010

PROCUCT MIGRATION OPTIONS

The recommended replacement for the Cisco WebNS Software 7.30 for the Cisco CSS 11500 Series Content Services Switch is the Cisco WebNS Software 7.40 for the Cisco CSS 11500 Series Content Services Switch (Table 3). Cisco WebNS 7.40 provides additional features including:

SSL initiation

Client authentication

HTTP header insert (SSL-terminated traffic only)

SIP-aware load balancing

Configurable flow state table

URL redirect string to 252 characters

Autocopy of scripts and profiles during upgrade

1000BASE-T Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) optics support (GLC-T)

Customer-found defects in Cisco WebNS 7.30 will be repaired and delivered in an image of WebNS 7.30 until the End of Software Maintenance date in Table 1. Customers are encouraged to plan and begin a migration to a newer version of Cisco WebNS Software prior to the End of Software Maintenance.
