Determining the Upgrade Process

Identify your current configuration according to its specific description to determine the correct upgrade process:

Configuration
Specific Description
Upgrade Instructions

Single-server configuration

There is only one Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing server and Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Outlook components are installed only on that server.

Follow the instructions in Performing the Upgrade.

Segmented meeting access (DMZ) configuration

For more information about segmented meeting access configurations, see the documentation for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing Release 5.3.

SMA-2S configuration:

There is one full-access Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing server behind the firewall and one limited-access Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing server in the DMZ, and Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Outlook components are installed only on the internal Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing server.

SMA-1S configuration:

There is one Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing server in the DMZ that serves both as the internal Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing server and the external Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing server. Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Outlook is installed on this server.

For an SMA-2S or an SMA-1S configuration, follow the instructions in Performing the Upgrade.

For any other DMZ configuration, contact Cisco technical support. See the Guide to Cisco Conferencing Documentation and Support.

Notification Services only

Only the Notification Services component is installed, and you are only upgrading that component.

Run the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Outlook installer on the machine on which the component is installed. At the Welcome dialog box, choose Modify. Then follow the directions in the installer screens.

All other configurations

Contact your Cisco technical support representative. See the Guide to Cisco Conferencing Documentation and Support.

Performing the Upgrade

Your configuration before and after upgrading must be the same. For example, in a single-server configuration, Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing and Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Outlook must currently reside on the same server in order to be upgraded on the same server.

Step 1 If you have customized templates by using any method that is not explicitly supported during upgrades (see the table in About Customizing the Scheduling Forms and Meeting Notifications), upgrading to this version will override your customizations. Existing customized templates will not work with this release.

Step 2 Verify that your system meets the requirements in the system requirements in the Release Notes for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Outlook Release 5.3.

Step 3 Upgrade Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing to Release 5.3 on all servers on which it is installed. See the documentation for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing Release 5.3 for instructions. Make sure it is up and running.

Step 4 On the computer on which Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Outlook components are installed, run the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Outlook installer, Setup.exe.

Step 5 When prompted, click Modify to upgrade to Release 5.3.

Step 6 Follow the installer prompts.

In the ConfigClient Utility, make any required configuration changes. Whether or not you make changes, click Save, then click Close. For more information, see About Configuring the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Outlook Client Software.

Note By default, support for Outlook 2003 is enabled, which requires a registry change. To disable this support, see the section on the Client Options Tab.

Step 7 Follow the installer prompts to complete the upgrade.

Step 8 Depending on the changes you have made, distribute the updated client software to end user machines. See the "Changing Settings in the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Outlook Client Software" section.

If you upgrade the server from Release 4.x, you must update all clients to Release 5.3
