Introduction
This guide explains how to assemble and install a metal case safely, that:
•Provides physical stability for a Cisco Digital Media Player (DMP).
•Discourages tampering and prevents theft.
•Can be mounted securely to:
–A wall or pillar.
–A suspended-grid ceiling T-joint.
–A metal pole.
–A VESA-compliant flat-panel display for which you have obtained a third-party VESA mounting kit.
•Facilitates airflow for ventilation.
•Is an adaptable and cost-effective alternative to complex cabinet-making and construction projects.
This guide is intended for general contractors, specialty trade contractors, subcontractors, and other licensed professionals who are experienced in light construction work.
Note This guide describes two versions of the mounting kit:
· The smaller version (DMP-PRCASE-4305-S1) is machined to fit a DMP 4300G or DMP 4305G.
· The larger version (DMP-PRCASE-4400-S1) is machined to fit a DMP 4400G.
Package Contents
The product kit contains fabricated parts made from sheet metal and a plastic bag that holds standard supplies (fasteners). Installation scenarios in this guide refer to fasteners by the numbers that Table 1 shows in its far left column.

Obtaining Replacement Parts and Supplies
The standard Cisco 90-day hardware warranty applies.
•If fabricated parts are missing from the product kit or appear to be defective, contact the technical support team trained to support DMS products at: http://cisco.com/en/US/support/. Because there is no serial number for any particular mounting kit, Cisco will ask you to provide one or the other of the following numbers to demonstrate that you are qualified to request support:
–The Cisco sales order number for your mounting kit. If you do not have this number, you can obtain it from your Cisco sales partner.
–The serial number for the DMP that you will use with your mounting kit. The serial number is printed on a sticker that is affixed to the bottom of the DMP chassis.
•You can obtain replacement fasteners in a hardware store or from any other supplier of construction materials. For descriptions, sizes, and illustrations of the fasteners for this product, see Table 1.

Tools That You Might Need
Your professional training and judgment as a licensed contractor will determine the actual tools that you use while completing any of the scenarios that this guide describes. Common tools for this purpose could include:
•A power drill or an awl
•A Phillips screwdriver
•A crescent wrench or socket wrench
•A pencil
•A bubble level or laser level

Mounting to a Wall or Pillar (Concrete, Plaster, or Drywall)
Install in accordance with local and national building codes.
Caution Consider carefully before installation whether the installation site is strong enough to support the combined weight of an assembled metal case and the DMP that it encloses. The combined weight is less than 12 lb (5.443 kg).

Before You Begin
•The fasteners for this scenario are numbered 1, 4, 5, and 8 in Table 1.
•To learn which fabricated parts to use, find the column that describes this scenario in Table 2.
Procedure
Step 1 Hold the Back Plate flush against the wall or pillar, and then mark through its bores where you will drive holes into the wall.
Step 2 Use a drill or an awl to drive wall bores that are 0.8125 in. (20.6375 mm) deep and 0.2344 in. (5.9531 mm) in diameter.
Step 3 Seat the No. 5 anchors inside the wall bores.
Step 4 Align the bores in the Back Plate with the seated anchors. Threaded studs on the Back Plate should point at you.
Step 5 Do the following for each bore in the Back Plate:
a. Carefully position a flat washer (No. 8) over the bore.
b. Thread a No. 4 screw through the flat washer and down into the corresponding bore.
c. Tighten the screw inside the seated anchor.
Step 6 Place the Front Cover on a flat surface, such as a table or workbench. Its side supports should point at you.
Step 7 Flip your DMP upside-down and place it inside the Front Cover. The Cisco logo on the DMP chassis should touch the center cross on the Front Cover.
Step 8 Snap the Front Cover onto the Back Plate so that they contain the DMP between them.
Step 9 Thread a No. 1 screw through each side support bore in the Front Cover, until the screw head forms a level plane with the side support.
Step 10 Insert the Locking Plate through the bearing slot in either side of the Front Cover, and then push it through the bearing slot in the opposite side.
Step 11 Use the mouth of the Locking Plate to secure the case. This prevents its theft and the theft of your DMP.

Before You Begin

Procedure
Step 1 Place the Front Cover on a flat surface, such as a table or workbench. Its side supports should point at you.
Step 2 Flip your DMP upside-down and place it inside the Front Cover. The Cisco logo on the DMP chassis should touch the center cross on the Front Cover.
Step 3 Place the Back Plate on a flat surface. Threaded studs on the Back Plate should point at you.
Step 4 Place the two Ceiling-mount Brackets on the Back Plate, so that all of the following statements are true:
•Two studs from the Back Plate are threaded through two slots on the first bracket.
•The other two studs from the Back Plate are threaded similarly through the slots on the second bracket.
•The flange of each bracket is oriented downward and each flange is pointed at the other.
Step 5 Place the hex nuts (No. 6) over the threaded studs, and then partially tighten the nuts. The nuts should be loose enough that each of the Ceiling-mount Brackets can move easily.
Step 6 Slide the Ceiling-mount Brackets away from one another, and then hold them apart while you flip over the Back Plate. Its hex nuts should now point at the floor.
Step 7 Raise the Back Plate toward a suspended-grid ceiling and hold it so that its two Ceiling-mount Brackets straddle opposite sides of one T-joint.
Step 8 Slide the Ceiling-mount Brackets together, enclosing the T-joint, and then tighten the hex nuts completely.
Step 9 Snap the Front Cover onto the Back Plate so that they contain the DMP between them.
Step 10 Thread a No. 1 screw through each side support bore in the Front Cover, until the screw head forms a level plane with the side support.
Step 11 Insert the Locking Plate through the bearing slot in either side of the Front Cover, and then push it through the bearing slot in the opposite side.
Step 12 Use the mouth of the Locking Plate to secure the case. This prevents its theft and the theft of your DMP.

Before You Begin
•The fasteners for this scenario are numbered 1 and 3 in Table 1.
•To learn which fabricated parts to use, find the column that describes this scenario in Table 2.
–To mount a large (DMP-PRCASE-4400-S1) case, you MUST use both of the fabricated Pole-mount Bracket pieces.
–To mount a small (DMP-PRCASE-4305-S1) case, you can use just one of the fabricated Pole-mount Bracket pieces, and then, at your discretion, add the second bracket.
Procedure
Step 1 Align the Back Plate against a sturdy metal pole. Threaded studs on the Back Plate should point at you.
Step 2 Complete substeps a through c:
•At least one time when you use DMP-PRCASE-4305-S1 with a DMP 4305G or a DMP 4300G.
•Two times when you use DMP-PRCASE-4400-S1 with a DMP 4400G.
a. Place the Pole-mount Bracket on the opposite side of the pole. Two bores in the bracket should be aligned with two similar bores in the Back Plate.
b. Thread a No. 3 screw through each bore in the Back Plate, past the pole, and into the corresponding bore in the Pole-mount Bracket.
c. Tighten the screws enough to secure the Back Plate and the Pole-mount Bracket to the pole.
Step 3 Place the Front Cover on a flat surface, such as a table or workbench. Its side supports should point at you.
Step 4 Flip your DMP upside-down and place it inside the Front Cover. The Cisco logo on the DMP chassis should touch the center cross on the Front Cover.
Step 5 Snap the Front Cover onto the Back Plate so that they contain the DMP between them.
Step 6 Thread each No. 1 screw through a side support bore in the Front Cover, until the screw head forms a level plane with the side support.
Step 7 Insert the Locking Plate through the bearing slot in either side of the Front Cover, and then push it through the bearing slot in the opposite side.
Step 8 Use the mouth of the Locking Plate to secure the case. This prevents its theft and the theft of your DMP.

Mounting to a Flat-Panel Display
You can use your mounting kit to mount a DMP to almost any VESA-compliant flat-panel display that is attached to a third-party VESA bracket. You can mount your DMP above or below the flat-panel display, whether the display is oriented in landscape mode (horizontal) or portrait mode (vertical).
Note See the manufacturer documentation for your display to learn if its casing is VESA-compliant and, if so, where you can obtain a compatible VESA bracket for it. Cisco does not sell VESA brackets or kits.
The LCD-mount Plates for this product might not be long enough to mount your mounting kit to an extremely large flat-panel display, even if that display is VESA-compliant.

Note To fasten an LCD-mount Plate to the LCD-mount Support Bracket, use screw No. 2 with washer No. 7.
Before You Begin
•The fasteners for this scenario are numbered 1, 2, and 7 in Table 1. In addition, you will use screws from the installation kit for your third-party VESA bracket.
•To learn which fabricated parts to use, find the column that describes this scenario in Table 2.
Procedure
Step 1 Place the LCD-mount Support Bracket on a flat surface, such as a table or workbench. Its threaded bores should touch the flat surface.
Step 2 Place the Back Plate onto the bracket, so that both of the following statements are true:
•Threaded studs on the Back Plate point at you.
•The curved edge of the Back Plate points away from the back of the bracket.
Step 3 Make sure that bores in the Back Plate are aligned with bores in the bracket.
Step 4 Thread a No. 2 screw through each bore in the Back Plate, and then through the corresponding bore in the bracket.
Step 5 Place the Front Cover on a flat surface, such as a table or workbench. Its side supports should point at you.
Step 6 Flip your DMP upside-down and place it inside the Front Cover. The Cisco logo on the DMP chassis should touch the center cross on the Front Cover.
Step 7 Snap the Front Cover onto the Back Plate so that they contain the DMP between them.
Step 8 Thread a No. 1 screw through each side support bore in the Front Cover, until the screw head forms a level plane with the side support.
Step 9 Do the following, first on one side of the LCD-mount Support Bracket and then on the other side:
a. Carefully position a flat washer (No. 7) over the innermost slot that extends vertically down the LCD-mount Support Bracket.
b. Insert the lip of the threaded insert from one LCD-mount Plate through the flat washer and into the bracket slot.
c. Thread a No. 2 screw through the back of the bracket slot, into the flat washer, and then into the threaded insert on the LCD-mount Plate.
d. Manipulate the LCD-mount Plate, so that its angle of rotation extends correctly outward (perpendicular) from the bracket.
e. Whether you will mount the DMP above or below the flat-panel display, the free end of the LCD-mount Plate should be aligned correctly with a threaded VESA bore on the back of your flat-panel display.
f. Thread a screw (provided with your third-party VESA bracket kit) through the long slot in the LCD-mount Plate and into the highest threaded VESA bore on the corresponding side of your flat-panel display.
Step 10 Insert the Locking Plate through the bearing slot in either side of the Front Cover, and then push it through the bearing slot in the opposite side.
Step 11 Use the mouth of the Locking Plate to secure the case. This prevents its theft and the theft of your DMP.

Securing the Assembled Case
You can secure your assembled mounting kit and the DMP that it contains, to discourage tampering and prevent theft. The method that you use is left to your discretion as a professional. This procedure describes only one possible method.
Procedure
Step 1 Feed one end of a security cable through the mouth of the Locking Plate.
Step 2 Feed the other end of the security cable through or around a heavy, stationary object.
Step 3 Use a padlock to join together both ends of the security cable.
