What is the Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Connector Conference Client?

You need to install and configure the Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Connector Conference Client to complete your deployment. The Conference Client is a component that automatically enables your Desktop with communication tools for audio and video meetings.

The Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Connector Conference Client enables you to

View the IP address of your computer, system hardware and software information, and all the modules used by the Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Connector Conference Client.

View the sent and received bandwidth for your local and remote endpoints.

Configure your preferences for the Conference Client.

Preparing to Use the Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Connector Conference Client

You must install the Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Connector Conference Client to participate in meetings. You can start using Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Connector with or without a video camera.

Procedure


Step 1 If the Conference Client is not installed, or if your version needs to be updated, Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Connector automatically prompts you to do so.

Step 2 Follow the installation instructions.

Step 3 Obtain and install a digital or analog video camera with a video capture card to send video.

Step 4 Make sure your computer is equipped with a sound card and a microphone to send audio, and a sound card with speakers or a headset to receive audio.


Methods for Accessing the Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Connector Conference Client

You can access the Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Connector Conference Client in these ways:

Select Preferences from the Actions menu. The Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Connector Conference Client Control Panel displays with the Settings section selected.

Select Statistics from the Actions menu. The Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Connector Conference Client Control Panel displays with the Current call section selected.

Click the Network icon (Figure 2-1) in the bottom right corner of the Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Connector user interface.

By clicking the Conference Client Control Panel icon (Figure 2-2) in the system tray, and then select one of the options.

Selecting a Language

You can change the language of the Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Connector user interface. The default language is the language set for the operating system. You can select one of these languages:

English

French

German

Italian

Japanese

Korean

Portuguese

Russian

Simplified Chinese

Traditional Chinese

Spanish

Procedure


Step 1 If you want to select Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean or Japanese, you need to set the language supported by the operating system you use to non-Unicode:

a. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.

b. Double-click Regional and Language Options.

c. Click the Advanced tab.

d. Select the language version of non-Unicode programs from the list in the Language for non-Unicode programs area.

e. Click OK.

Step 2 Access the Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Connector Conference Client.

Step 3 Click the Settings tab.

The General tab of the Settings tab opens.

Step 4 Select the required language from the list in the Language pane.

Step 5 Click Save.


Testing Audio Quality

Procedure


Step 1 Access the Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Connector Conference Client.

Step 2 Click the Settings tab.

Step 3 Click the Audio tab.

Step 4 Click Start audio test in the Playback pane.

Step 5 Click Stop audio test to end the test.


Testing Your Video Settings

Procedure


Step 1 Access the Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Connector Conference Client.

Step 2 Click the Settings tab.

Step 3 Click the Video tab.

Step 4 Click Preview in the Capture pane.

The Local Video Preview Window displays your configured video quality.

Step 5 Click Stop Preview to end the preview and to close the Local Video Preview Window.
