The Mediator Manager provides you with a base license that allows you to access the specified features on the Mediator Manager. The Mediator Manager is able to communicate with the Mediator only if the Global Management license has been enabled within each Mediator.

License Versions

For the Mediator Manager to communicate with another Mediator, it is necessary that the Mediator includes a global management license enabled on it.

For different versions of the licenses, the following conditions are applicable:

1) If the Mediator includes a license of version 3.0 and has been communicating with the Mediator Manager, then upgrading the Mediator does not affect this communication

2) If the Mediator includes a license of version 3.1, then it is necessary that the global management license is enabled on that Mediator.

Note A point is a generic term used to describe a single item of information in a building control system monitored or controlled by a Mediator. For example, temperature of a room, duct pressure of an air handling unit (AHU) and chiller water flow rate are examples of points. The number of points needed in a particular project may be provided by the customer, project consultant or a partner.

Note The number of points within a Mediator Manager is determined by the number of points within each Mediator that is managed by that Mediator Manager. For example, if a Mediator Manager is managing a network of 150 Mediators and each Mediator has a total of 1000 points configured, the Mediator Manager is managing a network of 150,000 points.

Ordering Information

Table 3-2 describes the licensing ordering information for the Mediator Manager.

Licenses for Points

All points on the Mediator Manager do not require a license. The protocol points are licensed at the Mediator. The Global Management license must be enabled within each Mediator to enable it to communicate with the Mediator Manager.

Viewing Licensing Details

To see the licensing details, perform the following steps:

Step 1 Launch an Internet browser (for example, Internet Explorer) and connect to the Mediator Manager using the IP address.

The Mediator Manager web client pane appears.

Step 2 Click System. The System pane appears.

Step 3 Click the Status tab.

The Status tab displays the licensing details as follows:

•Devices Managed—Displays the number of Mediators that are currently communicating with the Mediator Manager.

•Total Points Managed—Displays the total number of points on the Mediators, which communicate with the Mediator Manager.
