Release Notes for Cisco ACNS Software, Release 5.5.23

Additional Disk Space on ACNS-VB

ACNS-VB 5.5.21 and later versions reserve less disk space for system use, leaving more disk space for other purposes. This change is not applied during a regular upgrade process. To procure additional disk space, a complete installation needs to be performed.

To procure additional free disk space on an ACNS-VB, follow these steps:

Note This procedure to procure additional disk space will result in a loss of all previous data, including configuration and cached data.

Step 1 Download the 5.5.23 rescue-cdrom.iso image.

Step 2 Stop the ACNS-VB in WAAS by using the following command:

WAE# virtual blade vb_number stop 0

Step 3 After the session stops, change the boot cd-image disk image location to the 5.5.23 ISO image by using the following commands:

WAE(config)# virtual-blade vb_number

WAE(config-vb)# boot cd-image disk /local1/vbs/rescue-cdrom.iso

Step 4 Change the boot option of the virtual blade to cd-rom by using the following commands:

WAE(config)# virtual-blade vb_number

WAE(config-vb)# boot from cd-rom

Step 5 Start the virtual blade by using the following command:

WAE# virtual-blade vb_number start

Step 6 Install ACNS 5.5.23. Follow the installation procedure described in the Cisco ACNS Software Upgrade and Maintenance Guide. This guide is available at the following location:

Step 7 After the ACNS installation is complete, stop the virtual blade session by using the following command:

WAE# virtual-blade vb_number stop 0

Step 8 After the session stops, change the boot option of the virtual blade to disk by using the following commands:

WAE(config)# virtual-blade vb_number

WAE(config-vb)# boot from disk

Step 9 Start the virtual blade and check the new disk space when ACNS-VB starts. Additional disk space will now be available.

Hardware Platforms Supported in the ACNS Software

Table 1 shows the hardware platforms supported in each ACNS software release. An "X" indicates that the software supports the hardware models listed in that row.

Note The ACNS 5.4.3 release is the required minimum software release for the WAE-512 and WAE-612 appliances. The ACNS 5.3.3 release is the required minimum software release for the WAE-511, WAE-611, and WAE-7326 appliances. The ACNS 5.5.13 release is the required minimum software release for ACNS-VB running on WAAS virtual blade.

1 The integrated Websense Enterprise software Version 5.5 in the ACNS software requires a minimum of 512 MB of RAM. We recommend that you upgrade the RAM on your device to 512 MB or greater, or move your integrated Websense server to another device that has at least 512 MB of RAM. When additional Websense components are enabled (such as the Network Agent), the ACNS software requires a minimum of 1 GB of RAM.


The following software component restrictions apply to the NME-WAE-502:

•On-box SmartFilter is not supported on the NME-WAE-502 running ACNS version 5.5.7 and later.
Off-box SmartFilter is supported on the NME-WAE-502 running ACNS version 5.5.7 and later.

•On-box Websense is not supported on the NME-WAE-502 running ACNS version 5.5.7 and later.
Off-box Websense is not supported on the NME-WAE-502 running ACNS versions 5.5.7 and 5.5.9. Off-box Websense is supported in ACNS version 5.5.11 and later.

Performance is optimal when Websense Enterprise Manager, the Websense Policy Server, and all other Websense components are situated in the same LAN. If all components are not in the same LAN, you may experience communication latency between Websense Enterprise Manager and other components. A significant increase in latency may lead to a communication failure.

Software Version 5.5.23 Resolved Caveats

This section lists the resolved caveats in the ACNS 5.5.23 release.

•CSCtl08899—The SSL certificate validity for Content Engine (CE) GUI expires by 2013 and for Content Distribution Manager (CDM) it expires after 5 years of Centralized Management System (CMS) activation. Hence, the SSL certificate validity needs to be upgraded for ACNS.

Workaround: In CDM, change the hostname. This recreates a new certificate.

•CSCsb72030—For prepositioned content, when a request with If-Modified-Since (IMS) headers is sent, the Content Engine returns 200 instead of 304 even when the content is not modified (Last Modified Date and Etag are unchanged).

Workaround: None

•CSCtj91864—The ICAP daemon aborts abnormally when running on ACNS 5.5.19 version.

Workaround: Disable the ICAP service on the cache engine.

•CSCtk61415—Devices configured with features that use SSL may get affected with OpenSSL (described in CVE-2010-4180 and CVE-2010- 4252) Ciphersuite downgrade, and J-PAKE issues.

Workaround: None

•CSCtk66008— ICAP daemon reports false overloaded and clients occasionally receive error pages. This occurs when the ACNS platform has more than two CPUs.

Workaround: None

•CSCtl04345— On ACNS 5.5.19, the CE reloads on its own when the HTTP authmod process needs a restart.

Workaround: None

•CSCtj34493—During an snmp query of tcpConnState, the CE returns FINWAIT1 for the connections that are actually in CLOSE_WAIT states.

Workaround: Use the CLI show stat netstat to view the correct states of TCP connections.

Software Version 5.5.23 Open Caveats

This section lists the open caveats in the ACNS 5.5.23 release.

•CSCtl76221—Errorlog-cache reports the number of CPUs as two for NM-522 device that has only one CPU.

Workaround: None

•CSCtl09941—When there are two CEs connected to two different networks through an L3 switch to split wccp services between these two CEs, moving a particular wccp service, like service-60 (ftp-native), from one L3 interface to the other, fails to switch the service completely to the new CE from the old one.

This occurs under the following conditions:

1. Service group 60 (FTP) is configured to use multicast address on CE1 and CE2.

2. On the L3 switch, the following configurations are made:

a. ip multicast-routing is enabled.

b. ip pim sparse-dense-mode or 'ip pim dense-mode is configured on the CE-facing L3 interfaces.

c. On the CE1's L3 interface, ip wccp <service> group-listen is configured. All the mask-value entries point to CE1.

d. ip wccp <service> group-listen is removed from the CE1-facing interface.

e. ip wccp <service> group-listen is configured on the CE2-facing interface.

Workaround: Shutdown the CE1's L3 interface on the switch. Wait for all the mask-value entries to point to CE2. Restart CE1's L3 interface.

•CSCtj43485—Apache Tomcat must be updated.

Workaround: None

•CSCti00179—RTSP process crashes while running a stress test using the Codenomicon tool.

Workaround: None

•CSCtn52938—Misleading error messages are displayed while deleting a CE from a CDM. This occurs when the root Content Engine of a channel to which the Content Engine belongs to is inactive.

Workaround: Activate the root CE.

•CSCto31099— Multicast does not work in a WMT managed live program in certain scenarios.

This occurs under the following conditions:

–CEs are in the same location with live-split load configured on them.

–The location-leader interface is shutdown and then restarted again.

–A new program is created.

Workaround: Ensure that there is only one CE in the location.
