This document describes how to enable HTTP on the Virtualization Experience Client Manager (VXC-M). The typical VXC-M install (default) only enables the FTP protocol. If you want to use HTTP or HTTPS, HTTP must be enabled.
Cisco recommends that you have knowledge of a VXC-M server with only FTP enabled.
The information in this document is based on these software and hardware versions:
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2
VXC-M Version 4.9.1
Internet Information Services (IIS) Version 7 Manager
The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.
Complete these steps:
Open IIS Manager (inetmgr.exe).
Expand the server and Sites.
Right-click Rapport HTTP Server and choose Add Application...
Physical path: C:\inetput\ftproot
Expand Rapport HTTP Server, and click MyWDM.
On the /MyWDM Home screen, click Authentication.
Enable Basic Authentication, and disable the other two types of authentication.
Click MyWDM under Rapport HTTP Server, and double-click MIME Types.
Choose .*, .ini, .raw, and .info.
Navigate to VXC-M > Configuration Manager> Software Repositories, right-click MASTER, and choose Properties.
Change the Transfer Type to HTTP and FTP. When the question pops up, click Yes.
Under the newly-created HTTP section, enter the password for the rapport user: r@p8p0r+
Use this section in order to confirm that your configuration works properly.
Navigate to VXC-M > Configuration Manager> Software Repositories, right-click MASTER, and choose Test Connection. Both FTP and HTTP should pass.
