Things  to do  before coming in Senegal.

Please check if you will need a visa for travel to Senegal.  We suggest that you contact the nearest Senegalese consulate to verify whether or not this will be necessary.  If you require a visa, please start the visa application process immediately, since in some cases it may take weeks to obtain one.  If you require an invitation letter in order to process your visa to Senegal, please indicate this when you register and also send an email with the subject line “African Academy Safari 2009 VISA LETTER Dakar” to Yaye Fatou Seck (nfatouse@cisco.com) You must include the following information in your email.

A Yellow Fever Vaccination Card is required for entry into Senegal.

Once you arrive at Dakar International Airport. You will need to arrange for transportation from the airport to your hotel.  We strongly recommend that you make prior arrangements with the hotel to fetch you.  Each hotel will provide a shuttle service at a fee of approx. 7000 F CFA per person. We recommend that you share the shuttle service with other delegates to reduce cost to you or take the brand new yellow taxi at the airport.

Please verify that your country's currency can be exchanged into Franc CFA once in your hotel in Dakar.  It is however advisable to arrange Euros/ US Dollars prior to your travel as these currencies can be exchanged for F CFA once in Dakar. Otherwise you should visit a bank in your home country to exchange cash before you depart. Additional there are ATM machines which accept Visa or MasterCard.
