The South Africa leg of the Safari is only for delegates form Southern Africa. Please check if you will need a visa for travel to South Africa. We suggest that you contact the nearest South African consulate to verify whether or not this will be necessary. If you require a visa, please start the visa application process immediately, since in some cases it may take weeks to obtain one. If you require an invitation letter in order to process your visa to South Africa, please indicate this when you register and also send an email with the subject line “African Academy Safari 2009 VISA LETTER Port Elizabeth” to Ms Heloise Levack (heloise.levack@nmmu.ac.za). You must include the following information in your email.
A Yellow Fever Vaccination Card is required for entry into South Africa. Non-South African delegates will fly into OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. You will then take a domestic flight to the Port Elizabeth Airport. You will need to arrange for transportation from the airport to your hotel. We strongly recommend that you make prior arrangements with the taxi company to fetch you. The taxi fee is approximately R100.00 (ZAR) per person sharing, one-way. Below is the contact details of one of the taxi companies. You can e-mail or call your flight details through to the cab company.
If you have additional questions or needs that have not been answered by the information included on this website, you may send an email with the subject line “African Academy Safari 2009 Question – PORT ELIZABETH” to Alfie Hamid at alhamid@cisco.com |
