African Networking Academy Safari 2009

The South Africa leg of the Safari is only for delegates form Southern Africa.

Please check if you will need a visa for travel to South Africa.  We suggest that you contact the nearest South African consulate to verify whether or not this will be necessary.  If you require a visa, please start the visa application process immediately, since in some cases it may take weeks to obtain one.  If you require an invitation letter in order to process your visa to South Africa, please indicate this when you register and also send an email with the subject line “African Academy Safari 2009 VISA LETTER Port Elizabeth” to Ms Heloise Levack (heloise.levack@nmmu.ac.za). You must include the following information in your email.

Details as per passport:
First name
Family Name/Surname
Passport number
Passport issue date
Passport expiry date
Country of origin
Arrival date in South Africa
Departure date from South Africa

A Yellow Fever Vaccination Card is required for entry into South Africa.

Non-South African delegates will fly into OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. You will then take a domestic flight to the Port Elizabeth Airport. Please verify that your country's currency can be exchanged into South African Rand (ZAR) in Port Elizabeth.  It is however advisable to arrange US Dollars/British Pounds/Euros or Travellers Cheques prior to your travel as these currencies can be exchanged for ZAR at the airport. Otherwise you should visit a bank in your home country to exchange cash before you depart. Additional there are ATM machines which accept Visa, MasterCard or Maestro.
