Weather
April is the beginning of the rainy season in Nigeria. The weather is warm during the day and cold in the night with temperatures reaching 25 to 30 Degrees Celsius.
Things to Do
Although we have a very packed schedule during the days of the conference, we realize that many of you might be arriving early due to limited flight schedules. Therefore you may wish to explore some of the sights of Jos during your free time. The natural features of Jos range from the Kura Falls to Assop Falls - and from Shere Hills to the Jos Wildlife Park or Wase Rock. Few cities in Nigeria have as much uncluttered and preserved distractions like the peace and tourism State. There are many websites that offer travel information, including the city's official site:

Emergency Information
The national emergency toll free number in Nigeria is: 199
This number can be dialled from any phone at no charge.
You may also call 199 from any mobile phone for emergencies.
As with any big city, it is advisable to always be cautious of your surroundings. It is also recommended that you leave your valuables in your hotel room should you leave the hotel on your own, i.e. mobile phone, jewellery, digital cam etc.
We also suggest that you use the pre-arranged, group, transport service should you wish to go shopping, site seeing, etc.
If you have additional questions or needs that have not been answered by the information included on this website, you may send an email with the subject line “African Academy Safari 2009 Question” to Julius Ayuk Tabe at jayuktab@cisco.com
