Mike Weston, Vice President, Middle East

Mike Weston is responsible for Cisco’s business operations for the Middle East area, encompassing Saudi Arabia, the Gulf, Levant and Turkey. Mike is based in Dubai, UAE.

Cisco’s vision for the Middle East is to lead emerging country innovation, prosperity, sustainability and social inclusion through life changing networks.

Through networked technologies and partnerships, Cisco enables its customers, nations and organisations, to be more competitive and to differentiate themselves in the market, by solving their most important technology and business issues.

Mike joined Cisco in August 2013. He joined from IBM where he gained considerable experience in areas critical to the future growth of the IT industry: software, services and datacentre. Mike also has significant knowledge and understanding of how to lead successful business operations in both major and growth geographical markets.

Mike built a long-term career, over 14 years, in IBM, where he held the position of VP since 2007. Most recently, he was VP, Global ITS Sales for the Global Technical Services. He also worked in the Software Group Division. Mike also previously ran a data centre for a large Financial Institution, before moving into software sales with CA, and then IBM.

Mike began his career as a professional football player for Coventry City in the United Kingdom. He has worked and lived in Dubai, UAE for the last ten years with his wife and two children.

Shukri Eid, Managing Director – East Region, Cisco Middle East

Shukri Eid is Managing Director – East Region, Cisco Middle East. In his current role, Shukri heads Cisco’s business and operations across the UAE, Oman, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Yemen. With a key focus on digitization and the Internet of Things, Shukri is helping to drive Cisco’s digital agenda, competitive positioning and business strategy across the markets he oversees.

A Cisco veteran of nearly 10 years, Shukri’s responsibilities include driving Cisco’s strategy across his markets to ensure execution on business objectives, in addition to forging close relationships with governments, customers and channel ecosystem partners. He is valued for building results-oriented and enthusiastic teams and as a hands-on client and partner executive. Shukri has established himself as a thought leader and agent of change in fast-evolving, dynamic markets, and is known for his deliberate, strategic approach to complex challenges, his authenticity and his people management skills.

Shukri has worked in several capacities across the organization and possesses deep industry knowledge and a profound appreciation for the impact and opportunities presented by digitization. Most recently, he was Senior Director at the Country Digitization Acceleration (CDA) team in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Russia and CIS. In this role, he worked with government and industry leaders to accelerate the national digitization strategies. Prior to that, he led a diverse team of senior consulting professionals as Director of Cisco Consulting Services in Emerging Markets.

Shukri is a Cisco Leadership Pipeline Program alumnus and has over 19 years of business and technology consulting experience, notably in strategy development and implementation. He worked with senior officials and executives to help them develop and lead digital transformation strategies and business models.

Prior to Cisco, Shukri held senior roles at IBM Global Business Services and PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he led high-profile strategy and IT transformational engagements in the Middle East and North Africa.

Shukri has a master’s degree in business administration from Strathclyde University and a bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology. He has tutored EMBA students on Exploring International Business Environment and Future Scenarios Planning, and is a regular guest speaker at industry forums and academic institutions.

Guy Diedrich, Ph.D VP, Global Innovation Officer Office of the Executive Chairman, Cisco

Dr. Guy Diedrich is a member of Cisco’s Office of the Executive Chairman, contributing to Cisco’s Country Digitization Acceleration. He is currently working with government and industry leaders in countries throughout Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas to digitize the public and private sectors to increase GDP, create millions of next generation jobs and develop sustainable innovation ecosystems.

Prior to his current role at Cisco Systems, Dr. Diedrich was a Vice Chancellor at the Texas A&M University System, where he was responsible for research, commercialization, federal government relations, state government relations and strategic initiatives. Before joining Texas A&M, Dr. Diedrich served as President and CEO of GRA Inc., a software development and consulting company that he co-founded and grew from a start-up to a firm employing more than 130 professionals. The company was sold to a publicly-traded technology company.

Dr. Diedrich holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University, a Masters degree from the University of Cambridge (Kings College) and a Ph.D. from Swansea University where he studied the economics of trust in organizations. He is a published author in cost accounting and medical psychology, and has worked extensively throughout Europe, the Americas, Asia, and the Middle East for more than two decades.

Younus Al Nasser – Assistant Director General of the Smart Dubai Office

Younus Al Nasser is the Assistant Director General of the Smart Dubai Office, guiding Dubai’s citywide effort to transform Dubai into the world’s smartest city by 2017. Younus Al Nasser is also the CEO of the Dubai Data Establishment, part of the Smart Dubai Office, charged with overseeing the implement of the Dubai Data Initiative, the most ambitious data initiative globally, and fostering a culture of data sharing in Dubai.

Prior to that, he was a Director of Projects and Security Systems in Dubai Electronic Security Center Implementing Agile and Lean Methodologies in Project Management and member of Dubai Open Data Committee which was formed in November 2014 with a Decree from H.H sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoom to deliver Dubai Data Strategy, Dubai Data Road Map and Dubai Data Law.

Ferhad Patel is Intel DCG EMEA Sales Director. He is a 16-year Intel veteran, holding leadership positions in EMEA and APJ such as Director for Distribution and Channel Sales in APJ, APJ HP Account Team manager, META MNC Team manager, MET ISG manager, and country manager for Saudi Arabia. Prior to joining Intel, Ferhad was the Compaq Proliant Product Marketing manager for Sub-Saharan Africa and was Technical Support Manager at Unisys for their enterprise customers. Ferhad holds an MBA from Heriot Watt University and a bachelor's degree in Business Management as well as numerous technical accreditations.
