USC 5310 Module Release Notes

Product Release Status

This initial release of the USC 5310 module hardware supports the following key features:

  • Band 1 (USC5310-AI-K9); a later version of the product is planned to support Band 2/5 (USC5310-BI-K9)
  • Max Tx Power 20 dBm
  • Designed using Broadcomm 61670 Basedband processor
  • Cisco 3G Iuh software releases (Release 3.4 and above)

Product Interoperability

Supporting Software

The USC 5310 module supports USC 3G software release R3.4.2.14 and subsequent software releases. Refer to the software release notes for issues associated with the software release.

Aironet Product

The USC 5310 module has been certified to operate with the Aironet 3600 series access points supporting software release 7.6. Support for the Aironet 3700 series access points will be announced at a later date.

SCS solution

The USC 5310 module operates with SCS 2.0 supporting RMS release 3.0.

Cloudbase Support

HMS is fully supported from the management server. It is dependent upon the proper HMS server application having suitable written and tested configuration scripts.

CloudBase (formerly the ZoneGate Deployment Server (ZDS) must be used to configure the product cell initial start-up. CloudBase is used to give the product its default network connection parameters and licences and relies upon the default connection parameters and security certificates to have been provided to Cisco prior to needing the small cell to be used. Once configured in CloudBase the small cell will contact it over the public Internet and receive its configuration and licences. After which it will start up on a default software load and await connectivity to an HMS system for provisioning of its database parameters and final Software Load. If an HMS is not used then the small cell will wait to be manually provisioned. The default CloudBase load must be specified and can be changed by contacting

Product Issues

The following are known issues with the USC 5310 module:

  • Internal DSCP Prioritization — The Aironet bridge function means that DSCP taggings to prioritize the USC 5310 traffic types are not respected by an Aironet 3600, deferring the need for this function on the WAN access router. In case this prioritization is not supported on the WAN access router, this presents potentially uncontrolled domain congestions impacting both the Aironet and USC 5310 services. This issue will be resolved in future Aironet devices.
