Cisco TelePresence MCU 4200 Series

Length of time an MCU will retry a connection

How long does a Cisco TelePresence MCU retry a connection if an endpoint is busy or does not answer?

When you schedule a conference, you can add pre-configured participants (that is, participants who have pre-configured endpoints on the Cisco TelePresence MCU). These participants will be automatically called into the conference by the MCU every time the conference runs. This is useful if you regularly invite the same participants into a conference.

If your MCU calls out to an endpoint as part of a scheduled conference and that endpoint does not answer or is busy, the MCU will attempt to call the pre-configured endpoint every minute for the first 5 minutes and then every 5 minutes until 20 minutes into the conference, at which point it will stop trying.

Note that if a call is disconnected for whatever reason during a conference, the MCU will not try to re-establish the call unless an external management system such as Cisco TMS tells it to.
