Copying a configuration between AM Gateways

Copying configuration between Cisco TelePresence Advanced Media Gateways

You can copy the configuration of a Cisco TelePresence Advanced Media Gateway to another Cisco TelePresence Advanced Media Gateway using either the web interface or FTP.

Copying and transferring the configuration using the web interface

To save the configuration file of the original AM gateway:

  1. Go to Maintenance > Upgrade.
  2. Click Save backup file.
  3. Save the resulting "configuration.xml" file to a secure location.

To upload the configuration to another AM gateway:

  1. Go to Maintenance > Upgrade.
  2. For Overwrite settings, select if you would like Network or User settings overwritten (see the online help for more information).
  3. Click Restore backup file.

Copying and transferring the configuration using FTP

To save the configuration file of the original AM gateway:

  1. Ensure that the FTP service is enabled on the Network > Services page.
  2. Connect to your AM gateway using an FTP client. When asked for a user name and password, enter the same ones that you use to log in to the product's web interface as an administrator.

You will see a file called configuration.xml. This contains the complete configuration of your product.

  3. Copy this file and store it somewhere safe.

To upload the configuration to another AM gateway:

  1. Locate the copy of the configuration.xml file that you want to restore.
  2. Ensure that the FTP service is enabled on the Network > Services page.
  3. Connect to the MCU using an FTP client. When asked for a user name and password, use the same ones that use to log in to the product's web interface as an administrator.
  4. Upload your configuration.xml file to the product, overwriting the existing file on the product.

If you are using the configuration file to configure a duplicate product, for example in a network where you have more than one AM gateway, be aware that if the original product was configured with a static address, you will need to reconfigure the IP address on any other products on which you have used the configuration file.
