Starting with the Cisco APIC 1.2(2g) release, the Cisco
AVS uses site-specific certificates; previously, the Cisco AVS used image-based
certificates. So when you upgrade from an earlier release to Cisco APIC 1.2(2g)
or later, you need to use the following sequence when upgrading Cisco APIC,
leaf switches, and the Cisco AVS.
AVS—Follow the instructions in this chapter using Cisco VSUM.
The Cisco APIC
software image—Follow the instructions in the
Firmware Management Guide. If you have Cisco APIC clusters, the clusters
will be upgraded one by one automatically.
software on the fabric switches—Follow the instructions in the
Firmware Management Guide. To avoid traffic disruption during the upgrade,
provide a path for Cisco AVS traffic by putting the TORs and spines into
different firmware/maintenance groups and then upgrading each
firmware/maintenance group individually.
If the releases that
you are upgrading from and to are earlier than Cisco APIC 1.2(2g), or are Cisco
APIC 1.2(2g) and later, follow the sequence in
Recommended Upgrade Sequence for Cisco APIC, the Fabric Switches, and the Cisco AVS
