Performance and Stability Improvements

Resolution of several bugs that enhances the performance and stability of the Cisco DNA Center platform.

Install the Cisco DNA Center Platform

When installing Cisco DNA Center, 2.3.2.x, you also install the Cisco DNA Center platform, 2.3.2.x. A separate installation procedure for the Cisco DNA Center platform is no longer required. For information about installing Cisco DNA Center, see the Cisco DNA Center Installation Guide.

After the installation, click the Platform link in the slide-in pane to access the Cisco DNA Center platform. The Cisco DNA Center platform is accessible to a user with a SUPER-ADMIN-ROLE. You can log in and view the Cisco DNA Center platform, as well as perform actions through its GUI after logging in as a user with a SUPER-ADMIN-ROLE. The NETWORK-ADMIN-ROLE and the OBSERVER-ROLE have more limited and restricted capabilities with the Cisco DNA Center platform.

Note

If you have already installed an earlier version of the Cisco DNA Center platform, you can also upgrade to the most recent release by upgrading your current Cisco DNA Center release to 2.3.2.x. A separate upgrade procedure for the Cisco DNA Center platform is no longer required.

Configure Integration Settings

In cases where firewalls or other rules exist between Cisco DNA Center and any third-party apps that need to reach the Cisco DNA Center platform, you must configure Integration Settings. These cases occur when the IP address of Cisco DNA Center is internally mapped to another IP address that connects to the internet or an external network.

Important

After a backup and restore of Cisco DNA Center, you must access the Integration Settings window and update (if necessary) the Callback URL Hostname or IP Address using this procedure.

Before you begin

You have installed the Cisco DNA Center platform as described in the previous section.

Procedure

Step 1

Click the menu icon () and choose System > Settings > System Configuration > Integration Settings.

Step 2

Enter the Callback URL Hostname or IP Address that the third-party app needs to connect to when communicating with the Cisco DNA Center platform.

Note

The Callback URL Hostname or IP Address is the external facing hostname or IP address that is mapped internally to Cisco DNA Center. Configure the VIP address for a three-node cluster setup.

Step 3

Click Apply.

Upgrade the Cisco DNA Center Platform

You can upgrade to Cisco DNA Center platform, 2.3.2.x from an earlier release by upgrading to Cisco DNA Center, 2.3.2.x. A separate upgrade procedure for the Cisco DNA Center platform is no longer required. For information about upgrading Cisco DNA Center, see the Cisco DNA Center Upgrade Guide.

Note

The Cisco DNA Center platform is accessible to a user with a SUPER-ADMIN-ROLE. You can log in and view the Cisco DNA Center platform, as well as perform actions through its GUI after logging in as a user with a SUPER-ADMIN-ROLE. The NETWORK-ADMIN-ROLE and the OBSERVER-ROLE have more limited and restricted capabilities with the Cisco DNA Center platform.

CSCvx41364

Cisco DNA Center platform and DR data on Mongodb hosting application stack results the following in MongoDB store.

  • Increased backup size

  • Increased restore time

  • In an HA environment, the downstream/secondary instances may fail to sync with the primary MongoDB instance and causes the MongoDB instances to degrade into CrashLoopBackOff states.

CSCvx93717

The Client Detail, Client Session, and AP Radio report may fail to run/timeout or return to no data in Cisco DNA Center when you set the time frame of report for one month.

CSCvy72489

Cisco DNA Center may encounter errors while attempting to integrate with ServiceNow over its business API.

The errors are not displayed in the Cisco DNA Center GUI but the systems does not exchange any data.

CSCvz61107

Cisco DNA Center may fail to save the email parameters after the first entry in the destinations.

Limitations and Restrictions

The following sections describe the limitations and restrictions for this release.

IP Address Manager Integration

The following are the limitations and workarounds for IP Address Manager integration with Cisco DNA Center:

  • Infoblox:

    • Infoblox does not expose a name attribute; therefore, the comment field in Infoblox is populated by the IP pool name during a sync.

    • For a pool import, the first 50 characters of the comment field are used. If there are spaces in the comments, they are replaced by underscores.

    • If an IP pool name is updated for an imported pool, the comments are overwritten and the new name is reflected.

  • BlueCat: There are no limitations identified with BlueCat integration at this time.

Reports

Reports with significant data can sometimes fail to generate in the Cisco DNA Center platform. If this occurs, we recommend that you use filters to reduce the report size to prevent such failures.
