Firmware Upgrade on the WRP400
Firmware is a term often used to denote the fixed, usually rather small, programs and data structures that internally control the various features of devices. The firmware of a device is occasionally updated in order to fix bugs or add additional features. This allows you to improve your network and increase the life span of the device. It can improve performance and reliability, indeed even the basic available functionality of the device. This article explains how to upgrade the firmware on the WRP400.
Step 1. Download the latest firmware version desired and extract the files to your computer. The Latest version of the firmware available is version 2.00.32.
Step 2. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Administration > Firmware Upgrade. The Firmware Upgrade page opens:
Note: The current firmware version of the device is displayed in the upper right corner of the web configuration utility.
Step 3. Enter the device username in the User Name field.
Step 4. Enter the device password in the User Password field.
Note: This is the same username and password used to log in to the web configuration utility. The default username and password are both admin.
Step 5. Click OK. The following page opens:
Step 6. Click the Choose File button to choose the downloaded firmware file from the location where you have extracted it, and click Open.
Note: The extracted folder from the downloaded file contains both FCC and ETSI .bin files. Choose the file that ends in FCC if you are located in the United States or choose the file that ends in ETSI if you are located in Europe.
Step 7. Once the file has been chosen and appears in the Choose File field click Start to Upgrade to upgrade the firmware to the chosen version and follow the on-screen instructions.
Caution: Do not unplug or reset the device while it updates.
Once the upgrade is done you will be getting a message saying that upgrade has been successful and will redirect you to the main screen of the web configuration utility.
